About this Event
Career B.L.I.S.S.: How to Transition from College to Career with Ease is more than a career guide—it is a movement that challenges traditional career advice and centers individuals with marginalized identities.
The book is grounded in the belief that readers already possess everything they need to succeed and teaches a clear five-step B.L.I.S.S. framework to help them articulate their strengths and build careers that honor who they are and the lives they want to lead.
Rooted in Dr. Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth theory, it reframes lived experiences often labeled as “disadvantages” into powerful forms of capital, guiding readers through applications, authentic networking, offer negotiation, and navigating the emotional realities of their first year on the job.
Laurie Nilo-Klug is an early career development expert, adjunct professor, and author of Career B.L.I.S.S. who helps first-generation college students and individuals from marginalized communities navigate the transition from college to career. Through writing, coaching, and partnerships with colleges, employers, and high schools, she delivers culturally responsive workshops using her B.L.I.S.S. method to help students connect their strengths to meaningful careers with confidence. Her work has been featured in FOX 5, The Washington Times, and Thrive Global.
