About this Event
River Oaks District gallery, Laura Rathe Fine Art, announces Dream Within a Dream, a dual-exhibition featuring new works by Audra Weaser and Lucrecia Waggoner. The opening reception will be held Friday, August 18th from 6-9pm at our River Oaks District gallery with both artists in attendance (4444 Westheimer). Dream Within a Dream explores the Waggoner and Weaser’s distinct approaches to creating multilayered artworks, unveiling their unique processes and unleashing the depths of imagination and symbolism that reside within each piece. This thought-provoking exhibition promises to take visitors on an ethereal voyage through the realm of dreams, where reality intertwines with the surreal, and multiple layers of meaning beckon to be uncovered.
Show will be on display through September 12th
Audra Weaser -
Los Angeles-based artist, Audra Weaser, blankets successive layers of mixed media, continuously refining then obscuring the composition with a thin veil of white. From there, the highly physical process of excavation begins, using a sander to reveal the final balance of color and form. Her abstracted landscapes are illuminated from within, capturing the history of this symbolic unearthing. Audra Weaser was raised in Southern California and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. She earned her M.F.A in painting from Claremont Graduate University and has exhibited extensively since then. Her work is in private and public collections worldwide—from New York and San Francisco to Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore.
Lucrecia Waggoner -
Raised in Mexico City, porcelain and installation artist, Lucrecia Waggoner, recalls her first memory and discovery of ceramics at the age of 7 while visiting and viewing the collections at Mexico's nationally renowned museum, Museo de Antrpologia. She later moved to Dallas earning her BFA in ceramics at SMU. Previously a student at Parsons School of Design in New York, Waggoner has also continued her studies with courses and workshops in France, Germany, and Hong Kong. She currently teaches at the Zhen Music and Arts Institute in Dallas. Waggoner is a part of numerous private and public collections, including Toyota, BBVA Compass, Virage Capital Management, Plains Capital Bank, Chileno Bay, Cabo and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
