Welcome to the Vale Dog Walking Club 🐾 I’m Kayleigh 🙋🏻♀️ I started Vale Dog Walking & Pet Services back in February after deciding it was time to hang up my shoes in the sales/manager/office world & swap them for walking boots; I’ve not looked back since 🥾
For a while now I’ve been thinking how could I use what I’m doing to benefit the local community (I loved doing projects that have done this in my previous roles), this is the outcome, a not for profit community based activity 😊
Vale Dog Walking Club will launch on Friday 5th December @ 18:30. The meeting point will be by the park @ ‘the dump’ in the west end of Barry, just off Salisbury Road 🗺️
Who’s it for?
Every friendly dog, person, family, dog walker, dog trainer, anyone that wants to join! No specific breed, just please ensure you know your dog is safe around others & children. That being said, please also make sure your children are dog savvy! If they flap & scream etc…obviously not the best idea to have them around animals 👦🏼🐶
Why am I setting up this club?
There’s running clubs, walking clubs etc.. so why not a dog walking one? Dog walks can be lonely especially in the winter, it’s the time of year getting out to exercise becomes harder, hibernation mode sets in & before you know it you’ve been living in your dressing gown, haven’t had fresh air for a week & you’re suffering with dog parent guilt 🤣 By setting up this club I’m creating a social gathering to enjoy & look forward to whatever the weather 🌧️
Personally, I’m a lone parent with a very active little boy & not much family. I’m at home most evenings with him so even for us, this will be perfect to get us moving instead of the Friday night takeaway (we will have that Saturday instead though 😂).
Will this run again?
Yes! I’ll be organising this to run on the 1st Friday of every month at different locations. I realise people make weekend plans but let this be the healthier Friday evening choice which will help with decompressing from the week. There’s not a lot a walk & fresh air with the furry family members & friends can’t fix in my opinion!
Where will we walk?
Starting from ‘the dump’, we will take the back fields to Porthkerry, up the golden stairs & back to the meeting point.
What do you need to bring?
Just wrap up warm with suitable footwear & do not forget a torch as it will be dark (that’s part of the fun of it) 🔦
