Ayrshire Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament are launching a Peace Pole in the Dean Country Park, Kilmarnock on Wednesday, December 10th.With the help of the East Ayrshire Leisure Trust, and using crowd sourced funds, we have had a Peace Pole put up in the grounds of this wonderful park.
The Peace Pole was made for us at Allanton Peace Sanctuary in the Dumfries area.
The Peace Pole stand at around 6 foot high and caries the message – May Peace Prevail on Earth – in 4 different languages.
Peace Poles are situated in numerous locations around the world. By locating this Peace Pole in Dean Country Park, we hope to bring people together to reflect on the need for a more peaceful world.
Peace Poles are also about sending out a message that in our troubled world there is an urgent need to create peace in all areas of our lives, particularly in areas such as politics, the environment, and business.
Anyone interested is welcome to join us at the launch event, which will include some short speeches and readings, and will run from 11:00am – 11:30am on Wednesday, December 10th.
Those wishing to attend should assemble at the Dower House in the middle of the Dean Country Park from 10:50am .
