Back in 2016, I stumbled upon my first Laughter Yoga class, and something clicked. Within months, I trained as a facilitator and began running joyful sessions in church halls and even Peckham Rye Park. Life shifted, and the classes paused… until now.
At our Bellenden Therapies Open Day, I led a special session with six wonderful people — and the spark was rekindled. It reminded me how powerful this practice is for releasing stress, connecting with others, and bringing lightness back into the body.
What is Laughter Yoga?
It’s a blend of gentle breathing and playful laughter exercises that anyone can do. No jokes, no performance — just laughter for the sake of laughter. The body doesn’t know the difference between real and pretend laughter, so either way, you release:
- Stress and tension
- Happy hormones (endorphins, serotonin, dopamine)
- Fresh oxygen to the brain and body (boosting energy and focus)
Together, the benefits are huge: stronger immunity, better mood, and a lighter, more resilient way of meeting daily life.

I need a minimum of 6 people to run each session. If enough interest grows, I may run weekly classes — but for now, it’s the second Sunday of each month.
