Laughter at the Lounge An Asian comedy night with some of the best comedians on the circuit and an after party at The Golden Lounge in Leicester!
About this Event

Laughter at the Lounge is back for the 3rd time! Once again, The Golden Lounge is bringing you an Asian comedy night with some of the best comedians on the circuit followed by an after party with DJ sensation, DJ Kye! Let's meet the comedians:

Your host for the evening is Hitz Unadkat. Hitz is a Leicester local who recently moved to Milton Keynes and classes that as an upgrade. His surname is too hard to pronounce so he has to go by “hitz.comedy” on all social media platforms. Hitz has performed up and down the country and is making a name for himself on the comedy circuit. His stories on the ups and downs of being a British Indian will have you in stitches.

Finalist at the Nodding Dog New Online Comedian of the Year 2020, finalist at the Enfield Comedy Club Gong Show 2020, regional finalist at the BBC New Comedy Awards 2021, winner of the Alestone Comedy Competition 2021, runner-up at the Hats Funny ‘Comedy Competition’ 2024, finalist at the Funhouse Comedy ‘Gong Show’ 2024 and semi-finalist: The Stand-Up Club ‘Get-Up, Stand-Up Comedy Competition’ 2025.

“He’s bloody brilliant” (Funny Firm Comedy).

“A truly talented act” (Ian Whitcombe Comedy).

“I’d recommend any promoter to book him!” (Hats Funny Comedy).

“Gave us a right good laugh!” (Laffalot Promotions).

Your opener is Salman Malik. Salman is an internationally touring stand-up comedian and charismatic host known for his high-energy performances and sharp, relatable humour. With a unique Bahraini-Pakistani background and London roots, he delivers hilarious takes on family life, culture, and everyday experiences. Salman has performed across the UK and globally, captivating audiences with his natural stage presence, quick wit, and unforgettable crowd interaction.

Next up is Ravi Saini. Ravi is a British Indian comedian whose sharp wit and cheeky charm have audiences roaring with laughter. Blending cultural quirks with everyday absurdities, Ravi navigates the hilarity of growing up with curry in one hand and crisps in the other - tackling topics from family expectations to awkward Tinder dates. Ravi’s comedy is a delightful fusion of relatable chaos and cultural commentary.

Then we have Dimple Pau. Dimple is almost 40 and still living with her parents in the same room she was brought into when she was born. She's performed at Komedia Brighton, Soho Theatre and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Your headliner on the night is the hilarious President Obonjo. As the larger-than-life, uber-confident, self-appointed, side-splitting dictator of 'Lafta Republic', President Obonjo has quietly been leading a comedy revolution to become the first President to take over the comedy industry by storm. He has been creating rumblings by storming New Act competitions including winning Luton Comedian of the Year, Runner-Up at Great Yorkshire Fringe and was a finalist in the Naty New Act of the Year competition 2016. His previous solo show President Obonjo Stole My Identity was performed in 2015 at Bath Comedy Festival, Brighton Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals in 2015 and 2017 to packed crowds and critical acclaim. His latest show the Rise of the Comedy Dictator was performed at Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival in 2017 and at Leicester Comedy Festival in 2018. President Obonjo returned to Edinburgh in 2019 with his show "Goodbye Mr President".

“It’s a great comic construct, with lots of seized opportunities for playing with the clichés” – Steve Bennett, Chortle.

“There was the potential of that high-status, comedy bomb-proof kind of character that Alexis Dubus has created so successfully with Marcel Lucont.” - Ben Veneables, Londonist.

“This hour-long show was a revelation... Not at all what I was expecting.” - John Fleming.

“On the face of it, it works as a well-crafted political comedy, exposing how the world has treated Africa and left much of it to suffer corrupt governments led by the likes of Obonjo. But it's the layers of context that really make this a fascinating, bewildering and painfully funny experience.” - ☆☆☆☆☆ Fringe G.
