In celebration of Philippines Independence Day, Laugh With Ligaya is proud to host internationally acclaimed stand-up comedian Rex Navarrete!
Join us for a fun-filled event where we will be highlighting Fil-Am Comedians and Vendors from the NY/NJ area.
Since 1989, Rex Navarrete remains to be a one of the hardest working, relatively unknown American comedians today though he’s performed alongside notable national headliners as Robin Williams, George Lopez, Russell Peters, Ali Wong, among others over the past three decades. His humble comedy early days started in the fertile San Francisco standup comedy scene of the 1990’s. He has plans to release many more comedy albums and live concerts for streaming for his fans to enjoy. His most popular concert film, "Badass Madapaka", was filmed in front of a sold-out crowd at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
Currently he travels internationally throughout Asia, Europe, Australia, Canada and for the US Armed Forces bringing his brand of "Pinoy" humor to a wider audience. You may have seen him on "Lopez Tonight", "Live at Gotham", "MyxTV" and "MTV Philippines". Most recently, he launched his podcast, “The Flip Chronicles”, where he sits down with notable and not yet discovered Filipinos from around the globe in conversation. You may also have caught him in the Asian American rom-com, “Asian Persuasion” with Dante Basco and KC Concepcion.
He has also been inducted into the Aliw Awards Hall of Fame in 2025, a prestigious award given to performing artists in the Philippines. He went viral online before going viral was a thing, with the ever-popular “Maritess vs The Superfriends” animated short in 2001. The future seems to only give him the chance to connect with a larger audience that is now finally getting the opportunity to experience the changing face of American stand-up comedy.
