Join Latino Outdoors Bakersfield for a free, easy hike at Wind Wolves Preserve — about 30 minutes from Bakersfield.
Wind Wolves Preserve sits at the convergence of the Coast Ranges, Sierra Nevada, Mojave Desert, and San Joaquin Valley — a desert landscape with a lush oasis of green along San Emigdio Creek. We'll be hiking the San Emigdio Canyon Trail & Twin Falls Picnic Area Loop, staying close to the creek with views along the way.
Kids are welcome. Dogs on leash are allowed.

- Distance: 2.1 miles
- Elevation gain: 351 ft
- Estimated time: 1–1.5 hours
- Difficulty: Easy
- Terrain: Groomed, gravelly in spots; creek crossings along the route
- Facilities: Bathrooms available; picnic area at Twin Falls
- Parking: Free, large lot
What to bring:
- Plenty of water (no shade on this trail — sun protection is essential)
- Snacks
- Sunscreen and a hat
- Sturdy walking shoes
- Your dog on a leash (if bringing one)
Please note: Registration is required. A participation waiver will be sent to you before the event — you must complete it to participate. LO leaders are also required to complete the waiver.
