LASTING IMPRESSIONS A Study in Style presented by Art by Association STL, (A+A)
The Vision:
What happens when a piece of industrial history becomes a blank canvas? A+A invites St. Louis area artists (and friends of the studio) to participate in Lasting Impressions, a unique group exhibition debuting during Maplewood’s premier summer event, Let Them Eat Art.
Sole Survivor is providing cast-off industrial shoe lasts—the elegant, wooden or high-density plastic forms used to shape footwear—to be reimagined through your specific artistic lens. Whether you paint, carve, or apply a mixed-media vision, we want to see your "style" on the last.
Details:
The Project: Each accepted artist receives one shoe last.
The Fee: No jury fee to apply. If accepted, a $25 participation fee covers the cost of the last and event marketing.
The Result: Your finished work will be professionally displayed on pedestals and tables under the A+A tent, located in a prime spot on Manchester Rd. during the festival. You do not need to be present for the event. Artists are welcome to stop in!
Ownership: After the event, the piece is yours to keep! Or, you may choose to consign it at Sole Survivor Leather, where it will be offered for sale with proceeds going to you.
Key Dates:
Application Deadline: June 10, 2026, by 6:00 PM
Notification: Rolling - no later than June 11th
Work Due: July 6, 2026, by 2:00 PM
Exhibition Date: July 10, 2026 (during Let Them Eat Art)
