Artists
Fionn

The Vancouver folk-pop duo Fionn have spent most of the last year working on their new record I Might Start Smoking. This new record is a full-circle record for Fionn, revisiting the sound and spirit of their heralded first releases; however, their path to this point has been anything but predictable. After all, the duo only dropped their self-titled debut in 2018, though they’ve been quite prolific since, developing a song writing palette in a few years that even career artists would K*ll for. Their latest finds the sisters leaning on their Celtic roots and limiting their palette with organic instrumentation. It’s still catchy as hell, relying on musicianship, song writing acumen, and authenticity for hooks instead of high-tech tools. Fionn have been making their way back onstage after the pandemic’s forced hiatus and will surely return to pushing musical boundaries with subsequent recordings. For now though, this album revisits the pure, undiluted creative prowess that propelled them to fame in the first place.

Tiger Really

Starting out as a stupid pun on the name of a flower, Tiger Really has since become something like a life journal for Vancouver songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Lian Shao. Through confessional lyricism and symbolic wordplay, Lian documents the various events and people in his life with the aim of remembering how it feels to change, fail, grow apart, and love.

In a way, Tiger Really is a time capsule of emotions, expressed with a mix of influences from jazz, emo, punk and indie-rock. This strange combination of genres creates a melancholic yet energetic sound that gives listeners a peek into a moment of time, and delivers a very specific snapshot of feelings, frozen in song.

Tiger Really is set to release their debut full length album "Swan Sting" in 2024 with Counter Intuitive records.

Colour Tongues

Since their inception, Colour Tongues has taken hits and weathered storms, both literally and figuratively - and they’re still alive to tell the story. Coming from a variety of influences and life journeys, the band has survived mountain blizzards, floods and car crashes to bring you dreamy and high-energy indie rock - taking you on a journey to the 1980's and back to the present, with a stop-off in the early 2000's. The fundamentals of the music combine elements of math and progressive rock but with the danceable sensibilities of indie pop. Having opened for the likes of Canadian Alt-rock legends Moist, the band delivers an electrifying live show that pulsates through the crowd like a wave of sonic nostalgia you won't soon forget. Whether it's the lulling sway of "Wasted" or the pumping anthemic rock of "Midnight Island", their live show takes the audience through a musical journey that ebbs, flows, crescendos and explodes.

Summer's Brother
