Laser 101: Your First Cut & Beyond

Participants will explore how this easy-to-use digital fabrication tool can transform ideas into tangible creations made from wood, acrylic or leather. This session is designed for first-time users and provides a guided, practical introduction to basic laser cutting concepts, software set-up, and safe operation.
You will learn:
– Design file basics – understanding vector and raster graphics for cutting and engraving
– Cutting and scoring basics – how to set and distinguish between cutting and scoring paths
– Etching and engraving – applying surface etching for detailed text, logos, and artwork
– Glowforge interface & job set-up – using the web-based Glowforge app to set cut, order, power, and speed parameters
– Safe operation & material use – best practices for using the Glowforge safely, and selecting the right materials for projects
