Light & Lenses is a hands on creative portrait workshop focused on what actually shapes your images, light, intention, and how you see a scene.
Cameras change. Trends change, but the way you understand light and use it creatively will always be what separates your work.
This workshop is led by Ray Alvarez and Kiati P, two photographers known for their distinct styles and real world approach to creating impactful images. If you have followed either of our work, this experience is built around that same energy intentional lighting, clean compositions, and bold creative decisions.
This is not a casual shoot around. This is a structured educational workshop where we will be teaching, demonstrating, and guiding you through real time creative decisions while shooting.
What This Workshop Is About
Most photographers struggle with confidently controlling light and balancing it with ambient conditions. They guess, adjust, and hope it works.
In this workshop, we simplify that process. You will learn how to:
Control and shape light with intention
Balance ambient light with off camera flash
Build clean, powerful images in any environment
Recognize what to look for before you even take the shot
Make fast decisions when conditions are not perfect
Add creative direction during the shoot that translates into stronger final edits
We are not just showing you setups, we are showing you how to think.
Workshop Structure
This workshop will feature multiple creative setups designed to challenge how you see and use light.
Attendees will rotate through different shooting environments
Each setup will focus on a different lighting approach and creative direction
Live demos and breakdowns at each set
Hands on shooting with guidance, feedback, and real time adjustments
You will not be standing around watching, you will be actively creating.

Ray Alvarez will focus on:
Using gels to transform scenes and create mood
Creative angles and composition choices
How to build visually striking images using minimal gear
How to see light in everyday environments and elevate it
Kiati P will focus on:
Fine art portrait techniques and intentional posing
Creating depth, emotion, and storytelling in portraits
Refining details that take images from good to high end
His approach to crafting polished, artistic portraits
Together, you will see two different styles, two different ways of thinking, and how both approaches can elevate your work.
