Recruitment for the Explorers Program begins Sunday, June 14, at the Training Center, 633 N. Mojave Rd. The program welcomes individuals aged 15½ to 21 who are interested in pursuing a career as a firefighter. LVFR Explorers meet every Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to noon. Applicants must successfully complete a physical exam, a written test, and an interview. Offers will be extended to the most qualified candidates.The initial meeting will be an orientation session for applicants. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend and learn about the program’s requirements and expectations.
To prepare, applicants are advised to follow a regular physical training routine and familiarize themselves with the fire service. The physical assessment is modeled after the Firefighter Trainee requirements, which can serve as a helpful baseline for training.
Punctuality is critical for participation in the program. Early arrival is mandatory, as doors will be locked promptly at noon. Late arrivals will be asked to reapply during the next recruitment cycle.
