LANSDOWNE — Official Biography (2025)
From war zones to festival main stages, Boston rock titans Lansdowne have built a career on grit, hooks, and heart.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2006, Lansdowne has carved out a reputation as one of the hardest-working and most fiercely independent bands in modern rock. Their journey has taken them from college campuses and roadside dives to global tours and charting radio hits earning them over 140 million streams, 75,000+ global units sold, and a fiercely loyal fanbase that spans continents.
Roots in Resolve, Raised by the Road
Comprised of Jon Ricci (vocals), Shaun Lichtenstein (lead guitar/vocals), Glenn Mungo (drums), Josh Waterman (guitar/vocals), and Mike LaRoche (bass), Lansdowne is a band forged in the fire of adversity. From the early days of DIY tours to a harrowing stint stranded in Texas during a flood, they’ve never taken the easy route and wouldn’t have it any other way.
“We’ve never chased trends—we’ve chased truth,” says frontman Jon Ricci. “Every song we write, every show we play, we’re putting everything on the line. That’s the only way we know how to do this.”
Whether performing for U.S. troops in the Middle East braving sub-zero temperatures in Kyrgyzstan or narrowly dodging mortar fire in Afghanistan or grinding it out in the States opening for acts like Halestorm, Pop Evil, Theory of a Deadman, and Creed, Lansdowne has remained steadfast in their mission: to create music that connects and deliver a visceral live experience that leaves fans breathless.
Medicine, Momentum, and Major Milestones
In 2022, Lansdowne dropped their most ambitious and successful album to date Medicine, a full-length release that captured the band’s evolution while retaining their hard-hitting core. With singles like “Halo” a massive breakout that hit Top 5 on European rock radio and other fan favorites, the album has become a milestone moment in their career.
“Medicine was about healing, confronting our past, and owning our scars,” reflects guitarist Shaun Lichtenstein. “We dug deep emotionally and sonically, and the response was overwhelming. It was our most personal work and our most successful.”
Their catalog has since been embraced by major brands like iRobot, the NFL, and MTV, and their powerful, emotionally driven sound has earned them Top 20 radio hits across multiple continents. The band has performed at top-tier European festivals such as Graspop (Main Stage), UrRock Fest, and Rock for People, and completed three European/UK support tours with Ice Nine Kills, Red, and Thundermother, plus their first headlining tour all in the past 24 months.
The Odyssey Era & “Make It a Lie”
Now aligned with Berlin-based label Odyssey Music Network and European booking giant Seaside Entertainment, Lansdowne is in the midst of a bold new chapter. Their 2025 single “Make It a Lie” an emotionally charged anthem about the heartbreak of toxic love has quickly become one of their most explosive releases to date, earning 300,000+ streams in its first month alone.
With haunting melodies and lyrics that cut to the bone, the track captures the brutal internal struggle of clinging to something already broken. It’s Lansdowne at their rawest, and their most relatable.
“It’s about that moment when you finally stop making excuses and start being honest with yourself,” says drummer Glenn Mungo. “We’ve all been there. That’s why people are connecting with it so hard.”
Still Blue Collar, Now Global
Lansdowne may have started with a van, a dream, and a relentless drive, but today they stand as a global rock juggernaut streaming in the millions, charting internationally, and delivering electrifying performances from the heartland to the high rise.
Still blue collar in ethos, now international in reach, Lansdowne is here not just to play, they’re here to leave a mark.
Catch Lansdowne back on the road this fall, as they gear up for the release of their highly anticipated full-length follow-up in March 2026.
This is more than music. This is a movement.
