Learn the basic techniques for painting in watercolour, starting with wash, and gradient wash, while working with simple elements like a tree or a house. These foundational skills can then be combined into a straightforward first painting. You’ll be taken through a brief lesson on drawing principles, including perspective and volume after this by Sunil. Building on your initial paintings, you will then learn to incorporate elements such as clouds, human figures, and a more detailed foreground to enhance the image and add complexity. Gradually build your confidence, especially for those without drawing experience. Throughout your workshop Sunil will introduce basic drawing techniques and colour theory. Using a limited palette and minimal brushes, the emphasis will remain on mastering technique rather than becoming overwhelmed by equipment. Students typically complete 3–4 paintings by the end of the course, which they can take home. All materials will be provided.
