Join Abby Ramaker and discover the amazing world of oil painting. This workshop offers an introduction to oil painting, covering what oil paints are, how they are used, and how to build a strong basic color palette. Participants will learn foundational techniques while creating their own landscape painting using a reference image.
The session begins with a brief overview of oil paint, including how it differs from other painting mediums and what makes it unique. From there, we’ll explore how to sketch with paint, discuss color choices at different stages of the process, and understand the reasoning behind those decisions.
Participants will then be guided step by step through the painting process, working through each stage together. Questions are encouraged throughout, ensuring support as each participant completes an 8"x10" landscape oil painting.
The workshop concludes with a short discussion on proper brush cleaning, as well as best practices for sealing and framing oil paintings for future display.
