Materials included | No prior experience needed | All skill levels welcome
Ideal for first time printmakers and for people who would like to refresh their printmaking skills. Translate your images into black and white using strong composition and the balancing of positive/negative space, and create additional textures through carving. Experience the entire process from transferring your image to a linoleum plate, safely carving, inking, preparing the paper, making a simple jig for your plate and printing both by hand, and by using the press. Participants will walk away with a small a edition of linocut prints.
About the Instructor
Karen Klee-Atlin was born in Toronto and has lived throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines, teaching art and pursuing her own studio work. Initially a painter, her work in woodcuts, linocuts and monoprints represents many years of printmaking as her primary medium. Karen maintains her own studio in Toronto and is a member of Propeller Gallery in Toronto and Shift Gallery in Seattle, Washington.
