Landmark Lodge #40 proudly invites community members and media outlets to attend and cover its upcoming Charter Day Celebration & Community Resource Fair, a historic event commemorating 120 years of service and community impact.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at 48 1/2 Winters Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228. Exhibitors and participating organizations will begin setup at 10:00 AM. This is a FREE, family-friendly outdoor event open to the public, with an expected attendance of 100–200 community members.
This celebration is more than a milestone—it is a reaffirmation of Landmark Lodge #40’s commitment to serving as a pillar in the Catonsville community. Attendees will have access to a wide range of resources focused on health, wellness, education, and community development, with local organizations on-site providing valuable information and services.
Honoring a Historic Community
The Winters Lane community in Catonsville holds deep historical significance as a prominent Black community established in the years following the Civil War. Built by formerly enslaved individuals and their descendants, the area became a foundation for Black homeownership, faith, education, and economic growth during a time when opportunities were limited elsewhere.
Originally chartered under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, of F&AM, of Maryland on June 6, 1905, Landmark Lodge #40 is proud to be rooted in this legacy. The lodge building itself, originally constructed in 1896, stands as a testament to resilience, perseverance, and community strength. As one of the few remaining historic Black institutions in the area, Landmark Lodge #40 continues to carry forward a tradition of service, leadership, and brotherhood.
A Renewed Commitment to Community
Through this Charter Day Celebration & Community Resource Fair, Landmark Lodge #40 aims to re-establish and strengthen its presence as a trusted community hub—connecting residents with resources that uplift, educate, and empower for a brighter future.
Media outlets are encouraged to attend, cover the event, and help share this powerful story of history, resilience, and community revitalization. Opportunities for interviews, on-site footage, and engagement with organizers and attendees will be available.
