Join José García Oliva for a day in Burgess Park as we celebrate the enduring legacy of Latin American resistance in the UK.
About this Event

For this intergenerational event, we will showcase some of the work José has done during his 8-month residency at Gasworks. During his time with us, he has focused on the importance and understanding of workers’ rights through workshops, play and discussion. Together with our partners Triangle Adventure Playground (TAP), Latin American Youth Forum (LAYF), and Out and Proud African LGBTI (OPAL), José worked on children's rights, explored the power of complaint, and developed a Latin American resistance archive.

To celebrate, we invite the public to enjoy relaxing in hammocks, flying kites and paper planes, eating delicious arepas, and singing. All people of all ages are welcome.

Representatives from the Cleaners & Allied Independent Workers Union (CAIWU) will be available throughout the event to provide advice and support from experts for any inquiries regarding workers’ rights, contracts, and benefits.

All bookers will be sent the precise location of the activities a few days before the event.
