The Arc Cinema in Preston proudly presents the Lancashire Firestorm Short Film Showcase, a bold celebration of independent voices in cinema curated by festival director Ed Greenberg, best known for his leadership of the Lytham International Film Festival.
Join us for our launch event on Friday 27 March, bringing together an electrifying selection of eight short films from the UK, Europe, and the US, including BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated work. The event features a two-hour short film screening followed by a live panel discussion with filmmakers and industry creatives.

Featured Films Include:
Rock Paper Scissors (UK) – Franz Böhm — BAFTA 2025 Winner (Best British Short Film), inspired by true events of frontline conflict.
Jane Austen’s Period Drama (USA) – Julia Aks & Steve Pinder — A witty period comedy with a modern twist.
Welcome to the 70s (Germany) – Gretta Sammalniemi — A vibrant one-shot musical short.
The Man That I Wave At (UK) – Ben S. Hyland — An existential comedy-drama.
Benji (UK) – Oscar Garth — A surreal and darkly funny piece.
Bonfire (UK) – Jake Mark — A dramatic coming-of-age inspired by real events.
Blackpool (UK) – Stephen Gallacher — A poignant narrative about life’s ups and downs.
Wired (UK) – Will Jewell — A genre-bending story of grief and technology.
The event opens with welcome remarks from the Lancashire Film Network and The Arc Cinema team, followed by a live panel discussion exploring the vitality of regional film networks, the creative landscape across the UK and beyond, and the burgeoning future of the Firestorm brand.
“We’re thrilled to launch the Lancashire Firestorm Film Festival here in Preston,” said Ed Greenberg, film director and curator. “This showcase reflects the daring spirit of independent film, and offers audiences a chance to experience work that challenges, inspires, and resonates.”
