About this Event
PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE BOOKING!
We have adopted a pair of lambs and four goat kids for 2026. These little ones will need regular bottle-feeding during their first few weeks, this is a chance to take part in a unique and special experience.
What You Get To Do
Whilst you are here at Wellgate you will be given a brief tour of the farm with a member of staff or an experienced volunteer, you'll be introduced to the babies, spend some quality bonding time, and get to bottle-feed one of them.
The animals will be very hungry and as they get older the actual time spent feeding may be quite short, but the experience is still great fun!
Why Are These Animals Orphaned?
These have been orphaned because their mum has rejected them. This is especially common in sheep who will often reject offspring that she cannot support, instead of risking them all she will only care for the ones she can provide for. The farmer will sometimes remove a lamb/kid for their (or the mother's) health and welfare.
Important Information
Each ticket allows one person (plus a parent or carer where appropriate) to take part in the experience of bottle-feeding one of our animals. Our site is free to visit if other family members wish to watch from the sidelines.
We have two lambs and four kids, each feed is run as a group activity, you will be with other families and they will probably be taking photos/video.
We will make the decision on who gets which animal to feed during the session, please do not ask staff for a specific animal or breed - we love them all.
Please pay attention to the information in your email/ticket confirmation regarding what to do when you arrive on site. Arrive in good time as the animals will be fed on time, if we are not informed of any lateness (within 15 minutes) you may miss out and no refund will be issued in this instance.
All participants, parents, and carers should wear appropriate clothing both for the weather on the day and the activity which will include close contact with animals and their enclosures. We strongly advise sturdy footwear or welly-boots.
Failure to adhere to these conditions or follow staff directions may mean you cannot take part in this event and we will not issue a refund.
Evening Feeds
If you are booked for a 7pm feed, please note that staff are not expected to be on site before 6.45pm and will open the car park on arrival.
Pregnancy Risks
In order to protect their own health and that of their unborn children, we advise that you avoid contact with livestock animals if you are or may be pregnant. Birth fluids of animals may contain infectious diseases including chlamydiosis, listeriosis, Q-fever, and toxoplasmosis. Please check with staff for more information.
