***Final departure time 12 PM***Join the Champaign County Forest Preserve District for an orienteering event at Lake of the Woods, starting and finishing at the Museum of the Grand Prairie. Whether you're a seasoned navigator or brand new to the sport, you'll enjoy exploring the outdoors while using a detailed map to find control points across varied terrain. Participants can choose from three course levels- White (easy, on-trail), Yellow (moderate, some off-trail), and Orange (intermediate, mostly off-trail)- ranging from 1.5 to 7 km in length. Long pants are encouraged as your adventure will take you off-trail. Please bring your own compass if you have one; a limited amount will be available to borrow. There will be a brief introductory class starting at 9:30a. Come anytime between 9:30a-12pm, participants must depart from the starting point by 12pm. Free, no registration required.
