Now in its 19th consecutive year, the Latin American Film Festival in Australia (LAFF) premieres in Darwin with a selection of 13 movies representing Latin America at its finest.
The Embassies of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay have partnered to bring the biggest festival of its kind to cities throughout the country. This year, LAFF is presented in Darwin for the first time.
LAFF is organised in the belief that cinema is one of the best tools to foster mutual knowledge.
Film Synopsis
Bogotá, 1840. Ten years after the assassination of General Antonio José de Sucre (1830), in the jungle of Berruecos, New Granada, present-day Colombia, the trial on his death is reopened. Captain Alejandro Godoy, as prosecutor, is in charge of the trial after discovering that a large part of the file of the previous trial has been destroyed.
At the risk of his own life, Godoy exposes the myths of the bourgeoisie of the time and a high-level conspiracy behind the M**der of a man with great potential for political projection, the Grand Marshal of Ayacucho. A police thriller based on the assassination of General Antonio José de Sucre.

Admission will close 5 minutes after the screening has commenced so please arrive on time.
