About this Event

Now in its 19th consecutive year, the Latin American Film Festival in Australia (LAFF) premieres in Darwin with a selection of 13 movies representing Latin America at its finest.

The Embassies of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay have partnered to bring the biggest festival of its kind to cities throughout the country. This year, LAFF is presented in Darwin for the first time.

LAFF is organised in the belief that cinema is one of the best tools to foster mutual knowledge.

Film Synopsis

Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon (2021) is a Peruvian animated film that follows the experiences of an adventurous girl named Ainbo, who, along with her animal spirit guides, sets out to save her jungle paradise in the Amazon from informal loggers and miners. The film stands out, according to critics, as an authentic description of the folklore of the Peruvian Amazon jungle, which transmits positive messages focused on ecology and care for the environment.
