On February 24, 2015, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Joint Resolution No. 797 “Designating March 14, in 2015 and in each succeeding year, as a Day of Honor for the Marquis de Lafayette in Virginia.” As part of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture's 250th Initiative, join the VMHC and the American Friends of Lafayette for a special evening honoring the legacy of the French general who played a vital role in securing American independence and championing human rights around the world.
Highlights include:
- Historically inspired heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks
- Live music from the 18th and 19th centuries
- Live portrayal of the Marquis de Lafayette
- Remarks from French dignitaries
- Traveling panel exhibit, special library display of original manuscripts, and after-hours access to the VMHC's exhibits
This program is presented in partnership with the American Friends of Lafayette and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and is part of the VMHC's 250th Initiative.
