Originally from Detroit, he was steeped in rhythm and blues before moving to Toronto, where he absorbed the Chicago and country blues scenes. Influenced by legends like Muddy Waters and Son House, Davis developed a distinctive style blending traditional 1920s/30s blues with original songs full of wit and grit.
