About this Event
Using handmade and antique lace or special fabrics with sentimental value, you’ll learn how to press these beautiful textures into clay to create unique pottery items such as plates, keepsakes, and more. The class will cover techniques for transferring intricate patterns onto your pieces, ensuring the lace detail is captured in the clay while maintaining its elegance. Whether you're making a functional plate or a decorative keepsake, this class offers a creative way to blend art, texture, and personal meaning into your pottery. Perfect for experimenting with new techniques or creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces!
Note: This is a two-day class. The second class is on March 30, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm.
Instructor: Danielle Kurani
Instructor's Bio: Danielle is a passionate pottery artist and the shop manager of our new pottery studio. Although she’s been practicing pottery for nearly three years, her connection to the craft runs deep, inspired by her love for nature and the organic forms it offers. Danielle enjoys incorporating elements from the natural world—such as flowers, shells, seeds, and leaves—into her work, creating pieces that feel grounded and connected to the earth. She is excited to bring this studio to the makerspace, creating a welcoming environment for artists of all levels to explore their creativity. When she’s not managing the studio or crafting her latest ceramic pieces, Danielle spends time on the seacoast with her husband, three teenage boys, and two golden retrievers. With her enthusiasm and experience, Danielle is eager to help students discover the joy of pottery and build a strong sense of community within the studio.
