Laboratory Skills & Biotechnology Skills Bootcamp

This fully funded course is designed to help you build real, practical laboratory skills and develop a strong understanding of modern biotechnology.

Throughout the bootcamp, you’ll complete a wide range of hands-on experiments, carefully selected for their relevance in today’s scientific and biotech industries. You’ll gain practical experience in key techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, microbiology, ELISA, and Western blotting, helping you understand both the theory and real-world application behind them.

The bootcamp runs from 8:30am–4:30pm over 10 days, including a one-hour lunch break. Over this period, you’ll complete 60 guided learning hours, receive continuous assessment, and get personalised feedback from experienced lecturers to help you improve and progress.

This course is ideal for:

• Biology graduates or students preparing to enter industry
• Early career scientists looking to strengthen practical skills
• Non-biology graduates wanting to transition into lab-based roles
• Technicians supporting research or laboratory work
• Experienced professionals looking for a hands-on refresher

By the end of the course, you’ll feel more confident using essential lab techniques and better prepared for job applications, interviews, and real laboratory environments.

You are eligible if you:

• Are 19 or over
• Have been living in the UK for at least 6 months
• Have the right to work in the UK
• Live in Cheshire & Warrington

and you are not eligible if you are:

• On a Student or Graduate visa
• In the UK on a temporary or visitor visa
• On a sponsored work visa (e.g. Skilled Worker visa)
• Without the legal right to live and work in the UK
