"The Digestive Biscuits" huh? What’s with the quotations? Is this band really called The Digestive Biscuits? Or are they perhaps moonlighting under this delightful, delectable nom de plume (or, shall we say, nom de crumb)? Where are they from? What kind of music do they make? Are they anthropomorphic cookies that, after having been dunked in a magical tea elixir, came to life, sprouted hands and voices, and somehow learned to make tender, wistful jangle pop with delicate close harmonies and a bewitching guy/girl tradeoff vocal style reminiscent of the Pastels, the Vaselines, and Yo La Tengo?
Well, we can tell you that "The Digestive Biscuits" hail from somewhere in Europe; other than that, we are obliged to let the mystery be…that is, until Friday, April 24th! But trust us when we say you owe it to your sense of mystery and adventure to come check out this utterly charming and very special band, because meaningful music discovery involves a wee bit of risk — that’s just how the cookie crumbles.
