LA TOUCHE FRANCHE
La Touche Franche is Agathe Max’s 10th Opus to be released in April 2025. It will mark and celebrate 40 years of playing the violin.
As a child, she fell in love with the soaring sound of the violin and she hasn’t forgotten this. Agathe and her wooden acolyte have been hanging out for a while and she has experimented with it in many different ways: from gigs to festivals, contributions to collaborations, the stage, the videos, the arts, all the arts…Their great epic is all digested to be told better. La Touche Franche is sober, epidermal but with character. It depicts landscapes of an enchanting forest, an underwater ball, the sky and its stars. It carries us from near to distant horizons.
For this album, Max mixed samples from sound libraries on vinyl with her own personal collection of recorded sounds, a palette of percussion, wildlife, outdoor elements, noises from the city. The collage of all these sound textures creates rhythm and loops. It’s got temperament and invites us to stamp our feet and head-bang with Max’s pagan London friends. More than ever, Agathe is true to her DIY ethics and affirms “it’s time to create together with a sense of awareness”. Therefore she invited a few collaborators to add different dynamics and colours to this self-produced anniversary album.
Enough said, listen to it and join the mermaids, siege the dance floor or get on a plane.
La Touche Franche will be available digitally and as a silkscreen print by the artist Amélie Grosselin.
