About this Event
La Llorona/The Weeping Woman will be screened and followed by a Q&A with Prof Padraig McAuliffe, Law
La Llorona is a ghost story set in the home of a wealthy family in Guatemala during the trials into the human rights abuses of a fictional General, the head of the household. The haunting is atmospheric and reveals much about the history of injustice towards indigenous people in Guatemala.
A specialist in transitional justice and international law, Prof Padraig McAuliffe will discuss the film in relation to the real-life events it evokes.
