Saturday, November 23 Federal Film Society goes all Italian with the riotous comedy/adventure/romance/heist film La Chimera. A disheveled, heartbroken English archaeological scholar played by Josh O’Connor (The Crown, Challengers) joins a bizarre, squabbling group of tomb-raiding troubadours in search of antiquities to flog to the highest bidder. Set in 1980’s Tuscany, where the spirit world collides with a very Italian magic realism, filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher has created a transcendent, uniquely folky, poetic, gritty film about love, life, death, and the purity of art versus the gravity of greed. Amongst the hope and sadness, it is a cautionary tale about the beauty in all aspects of life and how easily it can be lost. An Italian feast is planned by Federal loves refugees. Don’t miss this one – our very own Italian festival, bringing the community together with film and food.
