In this presentation, historian and author Margaret Lovell-Smith will look beyond the glamorous portraits to reveal Kate Sheppard as a rounded person who was complex and sometimes contradictory, full of life, funny, very intelligent and politically active. She will explore what motivated Kate’s lifelong commitment to women’s rights, the qualities that defined her leadership, and how she sustained her political activism over time.
