You are warmly invited to join us Saturday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church (50 Erb St. W., Waterloo) for a special evening featuring violinist and KWCO Concertmaster Bruce Skelton. The program includes Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major and Bizet’s L’Arlésienne Suites Nos. 1 & 2 - a spring season program that promises expressive depth, graceful beauty, and revitalising sound.
Bruce’s orchestral journey began at age nine with the Georgian Bay Symphony, where he later became Concertmaster while still in high school. His passion for ensemble playing was further shaped through intensive summers at the National Music Camp in Interlochen and the Congress of Strings in Cincinnati, studying under distinguished conductors such as Henry Charles Smith, James DePriest, Anshel Brusilow, and Sir Andrew Davis. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Michigan, training with renowned violinist Jacob Krachmalnick. A founding member of the National Arts Chamber Orchestra and later a member of the Windsor Symphony, Bruce has built a vibrant career as a performer, leader, and educator. Today, he is concertmaster of the KWCO, manages the Leith Quartet, maintains an active teaching studio, and continues to freelance widely across southern Ontario.
The KWCO is committed to making live orchestral music accessible to our community. High school students and younger attendees enjoy free admission.
