This concert will feature Neena Agrawal, the winner of the 2026 Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concerto Competition, performing the first movement of William Walton's Viola Concerto. In addition, the concert will include a performance of the first movement of Walton's Violin Concerto performed by Alison Chung, the ADM Concerto Competition runner-up.The concert also features a KSO premiere: the music of Adolphus Hailstork with a piece that commemorates the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. “Epitaph for a Man Who Dreamed." Also on the program will be Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, the “Scottish” Symphony. Guest conductor Stephen Squires will lead the KSO.
The concert is sponsored in part by Annette and Jerry Johns. All students will be admitted at no charge. Join our competition winner and runner-up in a room near the concert hall for a pre-concert lecture at 6 pm - please note the early start time for this concert at 7 pm.
