About this Event

Date: Saturday, March 21st

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Discover the fizzy, probiotic secret to home brewing! Join us for a hands-on, Kombucha Brewing class featuring guest instructor Tony Horner, Founder of Fermented Felon. In this workshop, you'll gain all the essential knowledge to start brewing your own delicious, gut-healthy kombucha at home.
Register Early! Take advantage of a 20% early bird discount when you register at least 2 weeks in advance.

What you will experience:

  • Master the Basics: You'll gain a complete and clear understanding of the overall kombucha brewing process, from start to finish.
  • Brew Your First Batch: You will actively participate in making your own "First Fermentation" (F1) batch using quality teas from The Tea Smith.
  • Flavor and Bottle: Learn the art of "Second Fermentation" (F2) as we explore and sample different flavor combinations. You will juice fresh fruit to create flavored simple syrups and bottle your finished kombucha to take home!
  • Advanced Knowledge: We’ll dive deeper into the Fermentation process, discuss the health benefits of probiotics, explore the enzymes found in different fruits, and discuss the suitable sugar types for your future brews.
  • Take Home Starter Kit: You won't leave empty-handed! Tony will provide you with the critical ingredients needed for continuous home brewing: Kombucha Starter brew to take home and ferment, a custom-flavored second fermentation in a flip-top bottle to take home and enjoy, and a Recipe booklet with different kombucha starter and flavoring recipes.

About Fermented Felon:

Fermented Felon is a craft Kombucha company dedicated to good brews and good vibes! Founded in 2020 by Tony Horner, who started his business in the No More Empty Pots commercial kitchens. After facing incarceration, Kombucha provided Tony with a fresh start. More than a fizzy beverage, Tony says: β€œit was a lifeline, literally healing my liver and sparking a thirst for something more. I dove into science, mastered the brewing process, and found myself not just making kombucha, but crafting opportunities.” Today, Fermented Felon has expanded its operations and is available on the shelves of Hy-Vee grocers in the Omaha area. Tony continues to give back to the community, particularly by mentoring individuals with past incarcerations through the RISE business academy.
