About this Event
Are you a fan of kombucha? Learning to brew it yourself is easy, delicious and cheap! During this beginner-friendly class, you'll sample a variety of different kombucha flavors, make your first batch of kombucha and take home your own starter kit to brew on your own.
The 2,000 year old tradition of fermenting tea has a rich history of health benefits like improving digestion, boosting energy and supporting your immune system.
This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in fermentation, wellness, or just trying something new. No prior brewing experience is necessary!
What is kombucha?
Kombucha is made from sweetened tea that's been fermented by a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (a.k.a SCOBY).
What will we do during the workshop?
Participants make their first batch of kombucha during the workshop. Your host will cover history of kombucha, health benefits and how to do it at home safely. You will learn everything you need to know to make kombucha successfully at on your own. Plus, guests will sample various flavors of homemade kombucha by Lila.
What do participants get to take home?
All attendees will receive a Kombucha Brewing Kit including: a brewing vessel, SCOBY (kombucha culture), starter liquid, secondary fermentation bottle, cloth cover, and illustrated instructions.

About the host:
Hello, I'm Lila!
I am a loving SCOBY mom and Certified Nutrition Consultant from Oakland, California. I have been teaching kombucha brewing classes since 2012 and have shared my culture with thousands of people all over the world.
Brewing kombucha has seriously changed my life. I got my first SCOBY after volunteering on a farm on Vancouver Island and have been obsessed with it ever since. Brewing kombucha got me thinking about what I put in my body and how it makes me feel. It also empowered me to start making food myself that I'd usually purchase from the supermarket.
I'm a Holistic Nutritionist and run a mixology, culinary and wellness business that hosts public and corporate team-building workshops virtually and in-person. I also have a private nutrition practice and specialize in digestive wellness, chronic skin conditions, fatigue, and hormonal issues. I struggled with terrible digestive and skin issues for many years, but that all changed when I started to shift what I ate. I've learned so much throughout my personal healing and professional experience. Its my goal to share the healing powers of food with folks in fun and delicious ways!
