About this Event
Join artist and curator Bala Thiagarajan for an interactive kolam workshop as part of .
Kolam is a traditional South Indian floor drawing practice created through patterns of dots and lines, rooted in rhythm, repetition, and everyday ritual. In this hands-on session, participants will learn the basics of kolam design and create their own drawings using chalk and colored sand.
We will begin with simple chalk-based patterns and gradually explore working with sand to build layered designs.
This workshop reflects the exhibition’s focus on lived traditions and the ways cultural practices are carried, adapted, and shared in new contexts.
Open to ages 10+ and all experience levels. No prior experience needed. Materials will be provided.
Please dress comfortably for working outdoors. In case of rain, we will work inside the gallery on paper.
