Learn the art of kokedama and build your own moss ball plant to take home. Guided, beginner-friendly, and creative.
About this Event

Join us at Tansy Newark for a hands-on Kokedama Building Workshop, where you’ll learn the Japanese art of creating moss-wrapped plants and transform living greenery into a beautiful, sculptural piece.

Kokedama (meaning “moss ball”) is a traditional plant technique that replaces pots with a soil-and-moss sphere, resulting in a minimalist, organic design that can be displayed on a surface or suspended. In this guided workshop, our knowledgeable Tansy team will walk you through each step of the process, from forming the soil base to wrapping, tying, and caring for your kokedama at home.

This workshop is designed to be relaxing, creative, and accessible for all skill levels. No prior plant experience is needed, just come ready to get your hands a little dirty and enjoy the process.

What’s Included:

  • A curated kokedama-friendly plant
  • Soil, moss, twine, and all necessary materials
  • Step-by-step instruction and hands-on guidance
  • Care tips so your kokedama continues to thrive
  • Your finished kokedama to take home

This Workshop Is Perfect For:

  • Plant lovers of all levels
  • Beginners curious about Japanese plant traditions
  • Creative minds looking for a calming experience
  • Date days, solo self-care, or a fun activity with friends

Important Notes:

  • Space is limited and advance registration is required
  • Workshops are non-refundable due to limited seating and prep
  • Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult

Come slow down, learn something new, and create a living piece of art to take home🌱
