Knoydart is one of the most dramatic and unspoilt places in Scotland, inaccessible by road and home to Britain’s most remote pub. We’re here for 2 and a half days of guided hiking aiming to complete its 3 munros, Ladhar Bheinn, Luinne Bheinn & Meall Buidhe from Inverie.Day 1: Ferry to Inverie
We will access Knoydart’s wild and remote munros by ferry from Mallaig. The road to Mallaig follows the famous 'Harry Potter' viaduct line from Fort William.
We'll take the ferry mid afternoon and stop off at The Old Forge pub in Mallaig for a pint before heading up to our wildcamping spot. This will likely be fairly high up in between the mountain ranges.
If the weather is less favourable, we'll make use of the campsite in Inverie - but this will make the day's walking a bit longer!
Day 2: Luinne Bheinn & Meall Buidhe
We will depart our base camp at about 08:00 to complete a circular walk of these two fine but rugged mountains. There is some minor scrambling, but on a clear day, absolutely spectacular views. It is a big day however with repeated ascent and descent.
Day 3: Ladhar Bheinn and a meal in the pub
This circular walk takes in some fine ridge walking. Some minor scrambling but otherwise good walking in open terrain. En route back, we'll stop at the pub and have a meal. This isn't included in the price for the trip and is purely optional. But it's nice to have a more social evening after achieving (we hope) our three Munros!
Day 4: Ferry out
We'll pack up our wild camp and head back to Inverie. Hopefully in time for a decent coffee at the cafe before getting the 11am ferry back to the mainland.
Munros:
- Ladhar Bheinn (Larven) (1020m / 3,346ft)
- Luinne Bheinn (939m / 3,080ft)
- Meall Buidhe (946m / 3,103ft)
