A School Mental Health Partnership senior program equipping graduating students with the knowledge to recognize overdose warning signs, respond in emergencies, and make safer decisions as they enter college.
The School Mental Health Partnership invites graduating seniors from participating school districts to attend this important program designed to help students prepare for the transition to college and greater independence.
Date: May 19
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: 330 S Service Rd., Melville, NY
This session will begin with an overview presentation on current substance use trends among adolescents, helping students better understand the risks they may encounter as they enter college and young adulthood. The program will be followed by NARCAN (naloxone) education, including training on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to respond in an emergency.
At the conclusion of the training, NARCAN kits will be distributed to participants so students feel equipped to help save a life if needed.
This program is free of charge, and additional educational resources and support materials will be available for students and families.
This event is part of the School Mental Health Partnership’s ongoing commitment to supporting student wellbeing and safety as they take the next step in their educational journey.
