Knitwear Mending - Two Week Session
Week 1: Weds, Feb 12 , 6:30-8:30pm
Knitwear Class 1 - Mends for fine knits - small holes and elbow patching
Many is the sweater that has been lost to moths. Take back your beloved knits! Students will learn how to close and cover small holes in fine knits like cashmere and merino and also how to add patches to thin and worn out elbows in fine knit sweaters.
This is an intermediate class. Students should have some experience with hand sewing. All materials are included. (P.S. The skills in this class also work for wool socks!)
Week 2: Weds, Feb 19 , 6:30-8:30pm
Knitwear Class 2 - Missing stitches - mends for medium to heavy weight knits
Got a hole you could pump a fist through? Did a moth the size of a dachshund take a bite out of your sweater? In this class students will learn how to fill in thin patches, how to repair a laddered knit, and how to replace missing stitches by grafting in new ones. This is an advanced class. Students should be proficient with hand sewing. (But no knitting skills required!)
Take one class for $50 or both classes for $75 (a 25% discount)!
Instructor Cirrus Wood is a self-taught artisan who enjoys coming up with and learning fun designs to make clothing more visually appealing and more durable. He runs his own mending and tailoring business 'Muzhik' - named for the Russian word for peasant, but a muzhik is also someone resourceful, someone who can be relied upon to come up with a creative fix.
