KMFA Classical 89.5's Spring 2024 Offbeat Concert Series presented by Estes Audiology announces a performance of Adoration & Remembrance from indie-folk quartet American Dreamer, on April 12, 2024 at the Draylen Mason Music Studio. The evening will include a pre-concert chat with the featured artists.“Adoration & Remembrance” is a musical event presented by KMFA featuring the ensemble American Dreamer that explores loss and the many ways that we honor those who have passed on before us. The program’s center revolves around two works. The first of these is Florence Price’s Adoration, one of several semi-secular works in the composer’s output. Originally composed for solo organ, this arrangement by American Dreamer beautifully captures their skill for adaptation, drawing on their background as classically trained musicians. Paired with Price’s work is a composition by Giovanni Bottesini called Concerto for Double Bass No. 2 in B Minor, performed by American Dreamer founding member, Dana Marie Wygmans. This performance is dedicated to the memory of Draylen Mason, who is not only the namesake of KMFA’s primary concert venue, but also, the former student of Wygmans. Combining classical and folk idioms, as well as American Dreamer’s unmatched skill for musical storytelling, “Adoration and Remembrance” speaks to the human experience of grief and the power of art to heal.
General admission tickets are $30.00 with a limited number of student tickets available for $15.00. Capacity is limited and this event is expected to sell out. Tickets are available now at kmfa.org/offbeat.
