About this Event
Join Klättermusen for our pop-up exhibition & talk by Alpine Art specialist William Mitchell.
Our third Crafted Series event showcases Alpine paintings and photographs that highlight the intersection of art & mountaineering from the early days of exploration to today. In an illustrated talk, Mitchell presents the tradition of the peintre-alpiniste (the 'climbing artist'), tracing how artists ventured higher into the mountains to capture breathtaking landscapes. Sharing stories from his 2022 Mont Blanc expedition, William reveals how modern artists adapt to these extreme environments as climate change reshapes the very mountains they depict. A stunning selection of paintings, photographs, and video footage will bring this journey to life, showcasing both historical and contemporary works.
