**Kizomba Fundamentals**This class is perfect both for anyone new to partner dancing or those with experience that want to perfect their fundamentals.
In this fundamentals class, we’ll cover what it means to lead and follow, as well as the basic steps you’ll need to get started. The 6-week series is progressive, meaning each class builds on concepts from the previous week. For this reason, it’s recommended to attend all classes in the series to gain the most out of the experience. Please note that drop-ins are not possible for this series.
Kizomba a partner social dance with its roots in Angola. Once you learn the basics of leading and following, as well as a few fundamental shapes, you’ll be able to attend Kizomba/UrbanKiz parties and dance comfortably with different partners. This dance isn’t choreographed—it’s an ongoing conversation between the leader and the follower.
**About Your Teachers**
Alex and Nicholas are a passionate teaching duo from Canada, united by their love for Kizomba and Urban Kiz. Together, they bring diverse dance backgrounds spanning styles like ballet, hip-hop, and bachata, enriching their approach with creativity and versatility.
Their shared journey into Kizomba and Urban Kiz has been fueled by the dance’s unique ability to inspire self-expression, creativity, and meaningful connection. As teachers, Alex and Nicholas focus on creating a welcoming and inclusive space where students can connect with their bodies, embrace their individuality, and explore their personal style while mastering essential techniques.
