Kirtan is the Ecstatic, Meditative Call & Response Devotional Singing of the Divine Names from Hindu Tradition. It’s a wonderful way to quiet the mind and open the heart, to remember the sacred within and around us, and to connect with community. Participants are invited to sit comfortably, sing as though no one is listening, clap their hands, and dance or move if they wish.
Kalidasa (Joseph Getter) leads kirtan with his voice, harmonium, bamboo flutes and hand drums. He is a kirtan wallah, creative world musician, composer and teacher, with decades of experience in kirtan, Javanese gamelan of Indonesia, Carnatic classical music of southern India, experimental music, drumming Jazz, as well as music for yoga, theater, dance, sound healing, and the circus arts.
Kaveri Dasi provides support on the mridanga (a traditional clay-bodied drum of India) and also as vocalist. She is a Vaishnava and member of the Bhakta Bhandav organization.
Shana Aisenberg is an accomplished musician and teacher who masterfully complements and supports kirtan with the exquisite sounds of her fiddle.
