About this Event
Meander: Songs from Source to Sea
Meander is an ambitious project led by folk musician Kirsty Law and supported by Connecting Threads. Over three weeks in May and June, Kirsty will be walking the length of the River Tweed, meeting with musicians and writers, sharing songs and stories as she develops a new song cycle. Along the way Kirsty will be running workshops and holding 'musical conversations' at indoor venues and on the riverbank - sharing her findings with the places and communities that inspired them.
Kirsty Law & Siobhan Wilson: A Musical Conversation
Join folk musicians Kirsty Law and Siobhan Wilson for a musical conversation inspired by a journey down the Tweed. Kirsty and Siobhan will be sharing songs and music with you and with each other, following a day of walking along the river.
Arrive from 7pm to have a wander around the castle grounds, before joining us in the ruined keep for a live acoustic performance from 7:30-8:30pm
Toilets
There are no toilets at the venue, but there are public toilets in Norham village a few minutes walk from the castle.
Walking to the venue
Norham Castle is accessible on foot from Norham village. The castle is served by good footpaths and bridges, and well kept grassy areas underfoot.
Public Transport
Norham is well served by Borders Buses from Berwick and Kelso.
Parking at the venue
Limited free parking is available at Norham Castle. If you require parking for accessibility reasons, please let us know and we will reserve you a space. Otherwise free parking is widely available within the village a short walk away.
Children
Children are welcome, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please supervise your child at all times whilst in the castle grounds.
Please note, dogs are not permitted during the event (except for guide dogs).
Access
Norham Castle is a ruin and as such does not offer shelter in case of rain or strong winds. Please dress appropriately for the outdoors and unpredictable weather and temperatures. Norham Castle is accessible via wheelchair, however the path is on grass and mixed terrain. There will be a temporary shallow wooden ramp installed into the keep area.
If you have any accessibility concerns, please get in touch with Joanna prior to the event: [email protected]
Refreshments
There will be no refreshments served before or during the performance. There are shops and pubs available in the village if you require anything.
