KIPP Academy Elementary School provides high-quality education to students in grades K-4 in the South Bronx. What makes us special? We teach students the skills necessary to succeed in high school, college, and beyond—and we do it through the amazing teamwork of families, students, and teachers. Our goal is for every KIPP Academy Elementary student to feel prepared, capable, and excited to take on the challenges that lie ahead!
About us
We educate and support students through our SPROUT values: Serenity, Pride, Respect, Optimism, Understanding, and Taking a Risk. Students begin each day with a morning meeting, building community before diving into learning. Our vibrant learning community features:
- small group guided reading and reading mastery sessions for personalized literacy instruction
- CGI math instruction (Cognitively Guided Instruction) where students solve real-world number story problems
- vibrant arts program featuring dancing, singing, and skits that reflect our students' identities and cultures
- annual performances celebrating our community—including shows taking audiences on journeys through Latin America and Africa
- family workshops throughout the year, from "how to support your child's literacy at home" to "mindful parenting"
- nutrition workshops in partnership with Cornell University's Cooperative Extension
