The 17th annual Kintyre Songwriters Festival will be held in Campbeltown on the first weekend in July (3rd-5th July 2026).One of the highlights of Kintyre's musical calendar, the event has attracted performers from as far afield as Barcelona, Los Angeles and Berlin, with previous guests including top Scottish acts like Roddy Woomble, Mull Historical Society, Rachel Sermanni, Frightened Rabbit, Siobhan Wilson, Jill Jackson, Quiet Houses, Alice Faye, Pronto Mama, Emma's Imagination, Heir Of The Cursed and Admiral Fallow. Last year's festival was headlined by top folk singer Kris Drever and alternative act Theo Bleak.
The festival was set up to give local residents the opportunity to hear the music of local songwriters plus the best national and international performers and support the performing arts community of Kintyre. It aims to include as much local talent as possible, so if you write and/or perform songs, the organisers want to hear from you!
Spaces for performers at the festival are limited so to the organisers urge local musicians, singer-songwriters, bands and groups of any genre who are interested in getting involved to contact [email protected] or send a message to the facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/kintyresongwritersfestival before the closing date of Sunday 1st March 2026 to register their interest.
Non-performing local songwriters who are interested in having their material performed at the festival should also get in touch. The organisers are particularly interested in hearing from younger and emerging local artists who may not have performed their own material in public before. The festival will include showcase concerts plus more informal open stage events and workshops.
