About this Event
Join us in celebration of our imperfections in this Wabi Sabi Kintsugi Workshop!! This workshop is for people who aim to practice total self-acceptance.
In this Wabi Sabi Kintsugi Workshop, we will define what wabi-sabi means both in literal definition and to ourselves. We will discuss the philosophy of wabi-sabi, that all things are imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
We will practice a modified version of kintsugi, where we can bring in a broken or fractured ceramic form of our own or break one of the pieces supplied by the workshop. And repair it with imitation gold. By doing this, we not only accept the broken quality of the piece but also celebrate it. And make the piece more meaningful by doing so.
This philosophy can help us be more mindful and accepting of ourselves and each other, adding meaning to our lives and promoting total wellness. Because when we find the boundless beauty in the imperfections in each moment and celebrate those qualities, we can relinquish some control and exist more in the present.
This event is hosted by Ryley Gaulocher @stonegoldpottery on instagram, a ceramicist of 14 years, and teacher. He Loves Kintsugi, and Wabi Sabi, for their parallels to everyday life, and the analogy they draw to self healing, and resiliency.
